when i'm walking, i strut my stuff

i know, i know, i've been super slack in updating anything up here, but hell, i've been somewhat busy...and lazy, but mostly busy :) been getting uni stuff settled and going for a week of orientation and introductory lectures to all my courses and such, during which i found out that i am literally the ONLY international student doing OT this year, which is amazing. well, OT in itself is a pretty small program, but we'll be sharing courses with students from other programs as well, so it's all good. i had an enabling occupation workshop today for 4 hours and that wasn't fun. nuh uh. tomorrow's another 3 hours. gah. enabling occupation and critical thinking already seem somewhat tiresome.

on the OTHER hand, human anatomy sounds amazingly fun. in the introduction itself, we watched a video of a german man slicing skin off a corpse and stick his fingers in all sorts of weird places to illustrate how muscles work while one assistant pompously helped to explain and a lady was drawing muscles onto a nude man in one corner. and we've been told explicitly to wear tank tops and shorts to practical classes so that we can observe and study or lab partner's body and they may do the same with ours. hah. hahah. hah. but no really, the class seems interesting enough :)

i'm also very proud to note that i've yet to get lost in the square-of-a-city that is adelaide and the small but confusing campus of UniSA. misplaced myself once or twice, but never lost :) and i do love the walking around, in no small measure thanks to the itouch that plays the best/funkiest walking music. the other day, walking out to the o-bahn, it played blister in the sun, that's not my name, stuck in the middle with you, digital love, i believe in a thing called love, mint car...good stuff :)

and i've got my place already :) it's not the most luxurious, but it's convenient, close to the Lees and it definitely serves its purpose. i will MAKE it luxurious. it's fine as is. i've been told that i'm still expected for dinner and breakfast whenever i want. i think uncle fee fee's just happy to have a reason to start buying cakes and sweeties back from his college again, and i've no objections. he buys, i eat. it's a good system. it works, and we're both very happy. i'm only happy to move out cos i know my aunt and uncle have been slightly antsy bout me sleeping for two weeks on a camping bed, and once uni starts, they're aware that i'd need space to do some work, and if i stayed here, that would mean that shaunnie and i would end up working in the same area, and ng suk meh's just said "then you guys wouldn't work, only talk", which is a worry that hasn't surfaced in ages-the worry that i won't get work done cos i'll be busy talking. how fun to have regressed, and i actually mean that. i feel very much like a lil kid again, possibly cos shaun treats me like i'm younger than him by more than 11 days. did that last sentence even make sense? i'm really sleepy :)

ok, so to sum up; got my own place to stay, been going for orientation, met some new people, only international student, books way too thick and expensive, cold in the mornings and evenings but hot in the afternoon, lovely family...that's about it.

experiencing slight bouts of homesickness. not really homesickness, but i do miss having more people around me that i know...and some of the food just cannot be recreated here. CANNOT. plus, i'm trying not to spend all the money that i've been given. i could, but i'm trying not to.

oh, and i highly recommend enoch for anyone who wants to get a really nice time and tour of the city and all its architecture. and joyce for anyone who needs more good company :)

finally;

my first koala (tani!!); may it be the first of many :)

photos from morialta falls, botanical gardens on mount lofty and on the walk back from the o-bahn. how blue is that sky?? i think i'm forgetting something, but i'm too tired to think.
