don't think it's not serious, when's it ever not?

just had a 20 minute conversation with my dad (after his rendition of the classic "aaaaaaaaaalllllllllll byyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy myyyyyyyyyyyyyy seeeelllllllllllllllfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff" to which i responded suitably by yelling "NO! NOT THAT SONG STOPPIT"...and then get accused of not appreciating my dad's fine voice :)). didn't realise the time. made me happy :)

and i'm supposed to be working but i've been really tired for the past 2 days or so...or rather i've just felt too blah to really work on things that won't be necessary till next week, though i know i should. that's not to say my course is boring. far from it-typical class work includes:

(a) climbing up the steps on Frome Rd and having people observe me do it.
(b) climbing into a bathtub and having people watch me yet again. and then watching other people do it.
(c) sitting in hungry jacks eating ice cream a nice guy bought and observing the occupations around us and the frequencies at which they're carried out. yes, this is a class activity.
(d) staring at bones.
(e) flapping arms about (thus whacking people sitting next to you) or shrugging shoulders compulsively to figure out exactly what muscles are being put to use and "is that flexing or extending??"
(f) doing a dance for people to watch, and getting THEM to do it for you.
(g) brushing your teeth once as you normally would, then shutting your eyes and doing it again...for shits and giggles i suppose.

but honestly, having lecturers and tutors who are all occupational therapists is excellent cos they're used to having to guide and be patient and clear when explaining things.

and before anyone asks again, an occupational therapist does not consult you on what job or career path to follow, i mean that's...entirely different. i guess it would help to say that the definition of an occupation in this case is the things that we do and participate in daily. could be anything from having a shower, to talking, writing, catching the bus, sitting, holding onto something, eating, tying shoe laces, walking, sleeping-literally anything we do to occupy ourselves. and silly as it may seem to be unable to do something like holding onto anything, there are people who can't and need therapy to enable them to do as such, which i know sounds kinda holier-than-thou at the mo, but it seems like a really satisfying and promising career, so we'll see how things go from here :) and yes, i'll prolly still be able to massage you people out there. and honestly, i'm not sick of answeing the question of "OT?? what's OT??" but i just thought i'd clear it up for whoever while my mind's still thinking effectively. and it's a program that's definitely something to think about if you wanna feel like you're helping improve someone's wellbeing without having to go through all the medical stuff. not too much of it anyway..not even half :)

and just some nuggets of...stuff:

(a) don't go for a run without having drunk anything and then breathe in through your mouth. your throat will DIE. DIEEEEEEEEE. gah.

(b) don't cut onions-red onions in particular-while sitting down. just makes it easier for the onion to spew it's juice into your eyes. unless you're wearing goggles, then nothing can hurt you :) absotively potent stuff, i love it.

(c) depending on how much of your nasal passages you wanna clear, how many senses you wanna wake up, or if you need help to tear, english mustard and onions in a salad's the way to go.

oh and if anyone can think of a way i can sneak into Clipsal 500 not for the race, but just to watch the living end, drop me a line. hopefully going for the fringe this weekend....gonna hang around the city more in the hopes of bumping into Arj Barker. it's not a big city, my chances of just increased.

my skin's gone to hell though. and it's been warm here for the past few days and the humidity's now up to 43%. i bring malaysia with me everywhere i go :) on the other hand- friday's high=32 degrees celsius. saturday's high=18 degrees celsius. fun.

and more stuff:

1) Sam
2) Ernie

3) CocoChocCoffee Cupcakes Uncle Fee Fee made for Ng Suk Meh. In his words, they were "MMMM, exxxcceelllent" and they were.

4) not an untypical dinner at the Lee family household. bread, potato salad, grapefruit salad (again, the salads were "perrrrfect" chef said so himself) there were more sausages-chebachichi? they were excellent :)

on an off note; having vending machines downstairs is just evil.
