so home's just a word now

got my internet set up. woot :D unlimited access for just 50 bucks a month...and add that on top of my weekly rent, it's still cheaper than rental for most places in the city. plus, it means i can youtube my lonely nights away :) flight of the conchords! the office! and joyce, if you happen to read this, i only know that the company setting my connection up is called ACS, i'll get back to you when i know more :)

a few days ago it was a massively cold day-mostly cos it was rainy/drizzly the whole day and extremely windy, particularly on west beach where joyce and i spent most of our day with the wind blowing at our legs and me flashing tons of people unwillingly. needless to say, i got back home and changed into something less likely to flap in the wind before walking over to uncle fee's house for one of the simplest dinners yet, but one with fried prawns, supposedly to make me feel less homesick for fried foods or something :)

what i AM having to get used to sharing a toilet with 30 other people and so far it's not TOO bad. i'm in and out pretty quickly anyhow, and so it's all about getting as clean as possible as quickly as possible and waiting till the cleaners get here. ok, it's not as bad as all that, but it IS a weird thing how some people will always miss the dustbin no matter how large it is. some of my floor mates are absolutely the friendliest people though, actually bothering to knock on my door, introduce themselves, and ask me to join them in the tv lounge. i need people like that, if not i could not so happily live here in silence. well, not really happily, but i'd get by in my lil anti-social bubble.

well yesterday was a full day in uni-from 9 till 7. well more like 9 till 6.30 but whatever, by the time i got back and had dinner and everything it was 8 plus already and i was really wiped out. i tried to do my occupational science work, but ended up reading the wrong material and got too frustrated to do anything else, not to mention on my way to uni for my occupational science tute today i misplaced the book in which i had written all my answers. luckily for me, today's tute was mostly just a warm-up session. gah.

today was ng suk meh's birthday but there wasn't a big celebration or anything. just had a nice chinese dinner at her place...it may seem odd that i stress that it was CHINESE, but you'd have to have dinner with uncle fee fee more to know why i do that. but she seemed to like the uneven and shortish scarf i made her over the past two days :)

as a side note, i just have to say that i'm suddenly feeling extremely overwhelmed by uni. everyone seems to know more than i do, which would be fine if it didn't mean that during discussions, they could just throw out random terms and phrases and have everyone other than me understand what they mean. i'm not too shy to ask, but i just don't really like having to cos it feels like i'm ruining the flow of the discussion. it's all so intimidating working with people so much older and with so much more experience and understanding. and language has yet to be an issue, though i think accent is. i understand them most of the time, but i do feel the need to speak slower. EO tute tomorrow. i've no idea what i'm doing.

feeling a lil down. don't think it's just the weather.
