Surely i can't be the only one who's done that horrible thing of saying something that they regret voicing out the instant they do?
And not just that but stew over it for ages and ages and ages and yoinks in remorse even after the other person/people have forgotten or moved on, or the comment didn't even make such a big impact in the first place. And no, for some reason, the gravity of the comment or whatnot doesn't ease over time. To you, it's something that seems just as disastrous when you think about it in 37 years time.
I barely ever experience that sensation of relief that people talk about feeling after sharing or speaking up. It's not a matter of a lack of trust. I have complete faith that my family and friends would keep things to themselves if i needed them to. So that's not the problem.
What it is is that once you put something out there, how do you get it back?
